Mies
Mies and your data
Last updated 2026-10-21, describes Mies 1.0.0.
This page is for the person who approves software at your firm. The short answers to the five usual questions are below, with details for IT at the end.
What never leaves your computer
- Your Revit file. Mies never uploads it.
- Your files on disk.
- Your PDF file, its name and its path. For PDF import, only a picture of its line work is sent (see below).
What is sent, and to whom
- The text you type, and your recent chat.
- A small summary of the open model: names and counts, no geometry.
- For PDF import, a picture of the line work and a list of candidate wall lines.
- It goes to the Mies service (api.trymies.com), which sends it to Anthropic. Anthropic does not train on API traffic; inputs and outputs are deleted within 30 days.
- The Mies service keeps none of it. It has no database and no storage, writes nothing, and passes your request to Anthropic exactly as it arrived. Cloudflare, which runs the service, keeps a technical log of each request for 7 days: time, address, method, status, duration and request headers, which include your license key. That log never contains what you typed, the picture, or the answer.
- The Mies service sends your request to one place only, Anthropic's Messages API, using Mies's own API key. Its only other call is to the license service (Keygen) to check your key before each request, and that call carries the key alone, never your request.
Keys
No AI key is on your computer. Your license key is checked online when you activate and each time Mies starts, and it goes to the Mies service with each request.
What gets installed and where
- It installs for your user account only and needs no administrator rights. It is signed by VP Architect.
- It writes the Mies.addin file and a Mies folder under %APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2026\, and the folder %APPDATA%\Mies\.
- To remove it, use Windows Settings. The uninstaller asks "Also remove your Mies data?".
What is logged on your machine and how to delete it
- All logs are under %APPDATA%\Mies\: a routing log of your commands, a PDF log and run folders, saved PDF answers (cache), and your saved scripts.
- To delete them, answer Yes to the uninstall question, or close Revit and delete the folder.
The sign-up page
The sign-up form at tap.trymies.com stores the five fields you type and the time in a Cloudflare database in Mies's account and emails a copy to Vadim. Nothing else: no address, no browser details, no cookies.
Support: support@trymies.com, response within one business day.
Details for IT
Network
The only places Mies talks to over the network are the Mies service (api.trymies.com) and the license service (api.keygen.sh). The Mies service in turn talks only to Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) and to the license service. It accepts POST requests with a valid license key only, and only for the Claude models Mies ships with.
Script safety
- Mies scans every script the AI writes and rejects ones that name file, network, process or reflection features.
- Only a short list of system libraries is available to them.
- The built-in scripts that ship with Mies are written and reviewed by us and are not restricted this way.
What is sent with each typed command
- Your recent chat (up to 16 messages), including the text result of scripts that ran.
- The Mies instructions.
- A snapshot of your model: project title (for a saved project this is the file name), level names, phase names, the name, type and scale of the active view, and the number of selected elements.
- For up to 20 selected elements: category, type name, element id, and up to 6 parameter names and values.
- The 15 most common categories with their counts, and the number of warnings.
- The snapshot does not include the file itself, its folder path, or geometry.
- Some commands run a stored script on your computer, and their text result joins the chat and goes with your next request. A few reports, such as the project information and file size checks, print the project's file path, and if you run one, that path is sent with your next request.
Screenshot button
It sends an image of your current view (1280 pixels wide).
PDF import
- A 1600 pixel wide picture built from the line work on page 1 of the PDF. Text stored as text is not drawn, and a crop box does not shrink the picture.
- A list of the candidate wall lines inside your crop box, as ids and pixel coordinates.
- The same question each time: which of these are walls, and where are doors and windows.
What is never sent
Your .rvt file, your PDF's file name or path, and your files on disk. Your project's folder path is not sent unless a report you ran printed it.
License
Your key goes to the license service when you activate and each time Mies starts. It also goes to the Mies service with each AI request.
Where the API key lives
- No Anthropic key is on your computer. Mies sends your license key to the Mies service, and the service calls the AI.
- The build checks the program files for keys of that kind and fails if it finds one.
The installer
- It does not touch Revit 2024 or 2025.
- It removes older loose Mies files from the Revit 2026 add-ins folder.
What is logged, file by file
All under %APPDATA%\Mies\:
- routing.log: every command you type, how Mies handled it, token counts and the Mies version.
- pdf_log.txt and the pdf_runs folder: each PDF import, including the PDF's path and the AI's raw answer.
- pdf_cache: saved AI answers, so the same PDF and crop cost nothing twice. The 50 newest are kept.
- saved_scripts.json: your saved workflows.
- context.json: the model snapshot above, refreshed about every 3 seconds. It also holds your project file path.
- license.key: your key.
Deleting logs
Mies does not trim routing.log or pdf_runs. Deleting license.key means you enter your key again, and the uninstaller removes the whole folder if you choose Yes.
